Spokane Interstate fair is held in the second or third week of September. The fair offers just about anything you would like to see. It has the 4-H displays ranging from photography and art to baking and sewing. There are wood working crafts as well and many other displays some which include garden produce and canning.
As you wander through the fair grounds, many vendors sell an assortment of wares from fleece to CD’s and trinkets, gadgets and geegaw’s. Your nose is assaulted by many aromas of cuisine. One of our favorites is the famous elephant ears costing about $4.00. They are sweet, sugary and quite large and some vendors put whipped cream on them, MMM good, You can find cotton candy, ice cream cones and slushies, hot dogs, burgers and pizza, popcorn, pretzels and many other foods.
The livestock barns hold chickens, rabbits, geese, ducks, pheasant, Cows, horses, goats, sheep, Llamas and this year there were two giant turtles.
There are rides for the brave the foolish, the young or young at heart. Three tokens usually get you on a ride, some rides take five tokens.
They have mutton busters for little broncs, Some of my grandkids participated in that this year and of course they have the rodeo and crash car derby. The Interstate fair is an annual event that is worth saving money for and taking in.
Each year they have new things and many favorite interests as well from musical and clown acts to tractor and modular home displays and everything in between.

The cost to get into the fair varies according to family and age. It is about $8.00 for ages 6 and up to age 55. Seniors pay $5.00. Children under six are free. There is strollers to rent and or wheel chairs. The walk ways are mostly paved with some gravel in some areas. There are rest rooms in several areas of the fair grounds located at Havana and Broadway in Spokane and they are kept clean by maintaince crews. The rodeo is free as is crash car derby or was last time I went. There is ample parking but it gets tight in late afternoon. Mornings are the best time to go. Or after 6:00 at night. The interstate fair lasts for one full week in Mid September. It is an annual event of Spokane.
