Flavors of Autumn

A drive through Spokane in the FallOne of the things I love to do with my family is to take a drive along the back roads of Spokane County and see some of the sights and scenery the differing seasons have to offer. This past weekend, My husband and three of the grandkids took in such a tour.

Starting at Colbert we drove up near Elk and Big meadows and came down near Madison and then took Mt. Carlton Rd to Highway 206 and home. I took a second trip Sunday and went down Peone Prairie Rd. To Bruce rd. Then a couple of side roads to Forker rd. We drove up Farwell and Scribner rds as well and got some really nice scenery and photos of the flavors of autumn of foliage, building, flowers and critters.

It was fun driving and seeing all the pretty colored leaves, as they outlined or framed old sheds, barns or set the back ground for horses, cows, deer and pheasant. Big Meadows is between Greenbluff and Elk and has several scenic areas to see and things to do. It makes for a great afternoon drive after church or just to get out of the house for something to do.

Take along a blanket, a picnic lunch and don’t forget your camera. You never know what Mother nature will offer on one of these trips. The cost is realitively inexpensive. A tank of gas a digital camera or video or any camera will do. Some food and drink and you have a really fun family outing that you can take your time at.. Each season offers up new things and sights.
