River Front Park in Spokane, Washington - A great thing to do!Located on the edge of the Spokane Falls, Riverfront Park is an excellent choice of recreational fun for everyone. There are many activities that you can do from playing on a playground, to riding a historical carrousel, or having a picnic on a grassy hill. There is a wagon sculpture that is a slide for children, and tucked in the back is the IMAX Theater and an Ice Palace for skating. It is a hit for the whole family and don’t forget to walk across one of the bridges or ride the Spokane Falls Sky Ride, over the river, for a spectacular view of the falls.

This is one of our favorite parks to take visitors to. It is a place where kids can be kids and, when everyone joins in the fun, the adults become kids again too. My husband and I took our son and my parents down to the park on one of their visits up here from Portland, Oregon. We parked on the North side of the Washington Street Bridge where you will find five parking lots, between Howard Street and Washington Street, and if that does not work there is meter parking along Spokane Falls Boulevard on the South side of the park.

We started off our walk across the bridges where my parents were in awe over the rushing waters below. Making a stop at the playground, we were in no hurry. With so much to see and do in the park, we gave my parents a tour of the different activities that are housed there, such as the IMAX Theater showing movies like Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure.

Next, we all headed over to the Looff Carrousel, which is open daily, and encouraged everyone to ride, even my dad who was a little reluctant. When we climbed on I got my son set up and my dad stood by him, while my husband leaped onto an outside horse so that he could grab rings out of the dispenser and try to throw it into the Lord of the Rings game display. Like I said, everyone becomes a kid! Since a day at the park can run a little long, there are several bathrooms spread throughout the park like in the Carrousel and the Ice Palace. It is definitely a place to enjoy a day with your friends and family.
