Spokane salutes our VeteransWednesday evening my family went to the eighth annual Musical Salute to Veterans held at the Masonic temple 1108 Riverside. The event was an evening full of patriotic music and flag waving. Sponsored and put on by the El Katif Shrine Band & Chanters and The Legion of Honor. Among the performances were the Campfire USA boys and girls who sang the pledge of allegiance as a song. The 14th 141st Air National Guard presented the colors of our flag. The El Katif Shrine Band played several numbers among them; The Stars and Stripes Forever, Our National Anthem and The Battle Hymn of the Republic.

We then were entertained by A special Ballet performance from The Sandra Olgard Studio of Dance. They danced to the music of America the Beautiful. It was very moving and beautiful. The Inland Northwest Members of the Washington Civil War Era Re-Enactors Assoc. then marched around the room and performed marching manuvers to the tune of “Rally ‘Round the Flag. This was followed by a tribute to Our Fallen Heros Ceremony. The 141st Airborne National Guard set up the Fallen Warriors, gun, helmet, dog tags, boots and a rose in tribute. After which Legion Bagpiper Dellas Eaton played “Amazing Grace”
