Polly Judd-A Spokane Park With a View

It is impressive how many well kept parks the Spokane area has. We are constantly walking to nearby parks and I love stumbling upon a new one to explore. In Cannon’s Addition located on South Hill there is the Polly Judd Park located at the end of a dead end street. One morning, a neighbor invited us to take a long walk with them ending at the park. It was a fantastic idea! While my son loves the familiar parks nearby our home, he also enjoys exploring new territory.
I did not see any signs pointing us in the right direction, but we knew it was located at the west end of 14th Avenue, one block down from Cherry Street. We walked for a couple of miles and found our way straight to the enormous play structure. The children were having a great time and while we enjoyed a snack at the picnic tables I noticed my son starting to walk away. As I watched, he continued down the gravel track that extends along the perimeter of the park. In the center is a great patch of grass that was superb for playing fetch with our dog.
In addition, there are a couple of trails that extend along the ridge of South Hill if you feel like a little hike. With the sun shining, the view was beautiful and it is a great place to go see the fall colors or to catch a sunset. There are restrooms on-site in a small out building and a drinking fountain if you forget to pack water. While we were there the children kept running between the large and small play structures. Going to a park is always a hit with my son and this hidden gem will definitely be one of our regular outings.
