Cat Tales Zoological Park - Mead, WA

This past weekend we had some out of town visitors, one of which had visited the Cat Tales when she was here last summer and wanted to go back. Being of hardy Spokane (albeit transplanted) stock, we braved the elements of a brisk November afternoon to visit this wonderful zoological park located just a few miles north of

Polly Judd-A Spokane Park With a View

It is impressive how many well kept parks the Spokane area has. We are constantly walking to nearby parks and I love stumbling upon a new one to explore. In Cannon’s Addition located on South Hill there is the Polly Judd Park located at the end of a dead end street. One morning, a neighbor invited us to take a long walk with them ending at the park.

Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox in Spokane

Spokaneman is back! I know you’ve missed me and I’m sorry about slacking lately on informing you of Spokane’s great things to do. But I’ve got a great one for you. A peace offering of sorts! Recently I had the opportunity to get an exclusive tour of the newly renovated Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, formerly the Fox Theater, located at W. 1001 Sprague Ave. All I can say is “Wow!” When the Fox officially opens later this month I encourage each and every

The Milk Bottle Restaurant

A few years ago our family discovered the best burger and ice cream place in town. Even though the weather is rainy I still crave a good old fashioned milk shake everyone once in awhile. Today I got that urge and so we treked down to the The Milk Bottle for lunch.

Indoor Soccer Center-Skyhawk Field

Finally, Spokane has a second indoor soccer facility. The Skyhawks have opened a new indoor soccer center at 730 N. Hamilton. The soccer center is in the same building as U-District Physical Therapy. The Skyhawks Field is covered with Sprint Turf, which feels like you are playing on natural grass.

Lil’ Slugger & Soccer Tots

If you know a toddler that is already beginning to ask about playing sports, you will be happy to know that there is a place to go for a team experience. For two to five year olds there are two teams that are holding practices—Lil’ Sluggers and Soccer Tots. Since my two year old son started saying repeatedly, “play baseball” and naming everyone in our family to come and watch him play, we decided to try out the Lil’ Sluggers team.

Spokane Community College Arts & Crafts Fair

This is a tri-annual event. Held in the spring, around April. November and February. Vendors from five states attend and bring their handcrafted or home grown arts and crafts and creations to sell. Many vendors gave out free samples of food or scents. If your seeking something unique and special for a loved on this one place to find it.

Gonzaga men’s basketball

I know you cannot believe I am suggesting a GU basketball game as they are always sold out. However, between Craigslist and Ebay you to can attend a game. We bought our tickets on Craigslist.

8th Annual Musical Salute to Veterans

Wednesday evening my family went to the eighth annual Musical Salute to Veterans held at the Masonic temple 1108 Riverside. The event was an evening full of patriotic music and flag waving. Sponsored and put on by the El Katif Shrine Band & Chanters and The Legion of Honor. Among the performances were the Campfire USA boys and girls who sang the pledge of allegiance as a song. The 14th 141st Air National Guard presented the colors of our flag. The El Katif Shrine Band played several numbers among them; The Stars and Stripes Forever, Our National Anthem and The Battle Hymn of the Republic.

Manito Park, Fall Fun in Spokane

Manito Park on Spokane’s South Hill is a wonderful place to visit year round. Manito Park is located between 17th and 25th Avenues and Grand and Bernard. The park has activities year round, including a great plant sale in late spring/early summer. Manito Park was originally named Montrose Park but was renamed to Manito Park [...]
