An Evening with the Spokane Chiefs Hockey Team

Looking for something to do with your family, a great adventure for a date or something to do with your friends, Spokane Chiefs Hockey at the Spokane Arena is the game for you. We have been to quite a few games this year, as a family, on a date and as a guys/gals night out.
The Spokane Chiefs Hockey is part of the Western Hockey League. The players range between 16 years and 21 years old. While watching them skate and play I often forget how young they really are. This season the Spokane Chiefs are doing great. They are already guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, which is a first in the past few years. The Chiefs mascot is Boomer the Bear and he makes appearances in the stands and on the ice during intermissions.

I enjoy going to the Chiefs game and making an evening of it. The first time we went this year we ate at the Spokane Arena as it was buck night, where hotdogs, popcorn and pop were available for $1. Last night when we ate, we left our son with a babysitter and went to dinner at the Red Lion River Inn Lounge located at Division and Riverpoint Dr. and then headed to the Spokane Arena (on the corner of Howard and Boone) for the game.
We had been wanting to try the Lounge because of their appetizers specials. We ordered the nachos, cheese sticks, and buffalo wings. They were all pretty good and the service was quick, which was nice since we were running late. We also ordered some drinks. The total bill was about $30, which I thought was reasonable.

The best part of the evening though is the hockey game. I enjoy watching the game, heckling the refs for a bad call now and then and cheering the team when they score. The Chiefs organization makes sure there is always more going on then just the game. Between periods there are always fun and silly competitions with fan volunteers. A few times a year the little kids come out and play a short hockey game, which is great to watch since many of them have not mastered skating and hitting a puck!
We have been going to the Chiefs games for over 10 years so we always see lots of people we know and use it as a chance to catch up with old friends. I cannot wait until the next game this weekend.
For more information on the Spokane Chiefs visit their website at www.spokanechiefs.com or call them at 325-PUCK. They plan until the middle of March so there is plenty of time to catch a game.

Ya know, I don’t much like hockey. You won’t ever see me watching it at home, playing it or even really thinking about it. But watching a game live is like no other experience. I love it. Thanks for this post, you’ve reminded me how much I enjoy it. I think I’ll take my kids next season!
I keep meaning to go to one of these games. Sounds fun!
