So it’s after church one day, and the kids ask if we can head to the park to play. My husband and I both respond with a resounding “No Way!” as March is rearing its typical manic spring-weather head and we’re not in the mood for getting whipped in the wind and chilled to the bone. However, after seeing their deflated expressions, we’re hit with waves of guilt. So after conferring for a moment, we say “But how about SavageLand?” And we’re redeemed.

Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge - Cheney, WA
With a shocking amount of sun in the forecast, my family decides to make the most of it and heads out to get some fresh air just south of Cheney, Washington, at the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge. With a picnic packed, and donned in warm coats and gloves, we set out on an adventure that my six- and three-year-old are only too ready for.
Spokane Fish Hatchery-Spokane
We just got back from a tour of the Spokane Fish Hatchery. My husband had been bugging me to plan one for my MOMS Club as he still remembers feeding the fish there as little kid. The Spokane Fish Hatchery is located at 2927 W. Waikiki Road in Spokane. It is next to St. George’s School.
Toddler Fun at Webster Park-Spokane
I think I have found my new favorite park. Our family really enjoys exploring the parks of Spokane. My son loves the outdoors and love slides, swings and dirt! As you will probably read during the next few months, we visit lots of parks. My other mommy friends and I like exploring the different parks and choose parks close to somebody’s home each time. That way the same people are not doing all the driving all the time. Today’s park was Webster Park, 3721 W. Lacrosse. It is located at Northwest Blvd. and I street.
Northwood Park-North Spokane County
Today we discovered one of Spokane County’s fine parks. We were driving from a friend’s house and literally ran right into it. Since it was such a nice afternoon, I stopped to let my son burn off some energy. Nestled in a quite North Spokane neighborhood on 5 acres is a wonderful place to take your children to play. Northwood Park is maintained by Spokane County and located next to Brentwood Elementary, 406 W. Regina, Spokane, WA. There is plenty of parking available in a parking lot on the west side of the park.
