SavageLand Pizza, family-friendly, kid-friendly, kids, families, restaurant, miniature golf course, outside, food, eating, dinner, lunch, fun, birthday partiesSo it’s after church one day, and the kids ask if we can head to the park to play. My husband and I both respond with a resounding “No Way!” as March is rearing its typical manic spring-weather head and we’re not in the mood for getting whipped in the wind and chilled to the bone. However, after seeing their deflated expressions, we’re hit with waves of guilt. So after conferring for a moment, we say “But how about SavageLand?” And we’re redeemed.

We arrive at the jungle-themed, family-friendly pizza place, located just off Dishman Mica and 8th in the Spokane Valley, with time to spare, unfortunately, as the natives are getting restless. So after 15 minutes of I Spy and knock knock jokes, the doors thankfully open a few minutes prior to their posted 11 a.m. opening time. The approximate 8,000 square feet of fun is locally owned and operated, and has possibly the largest and most entertaining jungle gym in the area. In addition, there are the typical video games and carnival-like games that spit out those coveted tickets of which you can redeem for amazing, never-before-seen prizes that are totally worth the kids cleaning you out and changing it all in for quarters. Ok, not really, but the kids still love ‘em. and if you can let it go when you see their crazed-like grins and rosy cheeks, it’s all good.

When warmer days hit, there’s a roll-top door that turns the jungle-gym area into an outside room, and then you venture just a few steps out to one of the more interesting miniature golf courses in the area and basketball courts surrounded by tables and chairs, amidst the scenic natural beauty of the Dishman Hills.

So after a mere 15 minutes waiting time, our red lobster lights up and vibrates, telling us our pizza is ready, which is always made with fresh-daily pizza dough and sauce, and, as always, is fantastic! There are also yummy calzones, hot poorboys, cold deli sandwiches, and a salad bar, all very reasonably priced. And, as like most pizza places, it’s the perfect setting for casual parties. Just check out their many party packages by calling 924.3876.

A couple of hours of frolicking fun have now gone by and we’re in the car, on our way home, with two very tired, but happy kids in the back seat. We also have lots of left-over pizza for later as the kids had so much fun they could barely sit still to eat for more than 5 minutes. But that’s ok, because we are redeemed and apparently, we are currently the best mom and day in the entire world! And I’d say that’s worth about a gazillion quarters.
