Audubon Park SpokaneAudubon Park located at Audubon Park and Northwest Blvd. (3405 N. Milton) It is one of Spokane’s larger parks boasting 26 ½ acres of fun. Audubon Park was busy today with people walking their dogs, kids playing, and adults holding their cups of coffee trying to stay warm. I began our park experience by visiting the Little Garden Café to grab a coffee than across the street we went to play at the park.

Audubon Parks is great for an entire family of all ages. They have everything from softball fields, basketball courts, picnic areas, play areas for older kids and a separate one for young toddlers just learning how to climb and sand volleyball courts. Audubon Park also has numerous picnic tables, restroom facilities (open Memorial Day through mid-September).

On the walk over from the Little Garden Café Simon was going nuts watching the dogs playing fetch. He also was frantically pointing at the kids on the toys. His little legs were in running motion before I could get him out of the stroller. As soon as I set him on the grass he ran to the toy area, up the stairs and down the slide. I had not even had a chance to park the stroller before he was yelling “more”.

As we were playing on the toys, some older kids came and began playing on the basketball court. Since “ball” is Simon’s favorite word he frantically began pointing to the basketball court. It was a struggle to redirect him to the toys and away from the basketball court.

The past few summers we have enjoyed playing beach volleyball during the week. Usually the nets are set up once or twice a week beginning in mid-June. We are looking forward to volleyball starting up again.

Audubon Park has a large parking lot on the west side of the park, but there is also ample street parking near the toys on the east side of the park.
