Fun at Skyview Park, 5-Mile Prairie - Spokane

One of Spokane’s newest parks is located on 5-Mile Prairie. It is Sky View Park and is located at 8501 N. Nettleton (corner of Strong and Nettleton). Sky View is 26.25 acres and includes everything from paved running/walking trails, play area, picnic area, tennis courts, skate park, softball fields and plenty of parking.
We were there this week with my MOMS Club to let the kid’s burn off some energy. Sky View has a fabulous walking/running trail so we got there early so I could get my walk in for the day. The trails are great as they are paved and marked every tenth of a mile. The other bonus is they are hilly so you really get your exercise.
After getting my walk in for the day we met up with friends to let the kids play. There are 3 toy structures that cater to kids of all areas. Most of the kids ran to the huge slide that had to be at least a story high. My son looked at it, looked at me and made the right choice to run over to the toddler toys.
The toddler toys provided the kids the opportunity to crawl through a tunnel, climb a ladder and choose between 2 slides. The other play structure is suited for kids of all ages as they have stairs, ramps, a fire type pole, slides and these really neat steps that move, but are connected to the ground, so older kids can walk across them. I think of them as monkey bars for the feet!
Even though we are not old enough yet, we went and checked out the skate park and tennis courts. The skate park looks like a lot of fun and I am sure after school and on weekends it is full of kids playing. The tennis courts are new and of course in very good shape. Sky Prairie Park also has half a dozen picnic tables, a BBQ and restrooms.
All in all we had a fun morning at Sky Prairie Park and plan to add it to our list of parks for the summer.
