Walking the Ben Burr Trail in Spokane

As if a perfect dichotomy of municipal Spokane, Ben Burr Trail really does show two sides of our city in perfect walking distance.

Spokane Falls View Points

I have always admired the Spokane Falls from the street but as I was driving one day on Monroe Street I noticed a sign that said “Spokane Falls View Points”. I had some downtown shopping to do so I forwent their parking which is found near Bridge Street and used the parking garage at Riverpark [...]

Cold Stone Creamery- Ice Cream and a Scenic Drive on Spokane’s South Hill

My husband and I are big fans of Cold Stone Creamery’s Birthday club- where you sign up on their website and get a coupon for a free ice cream treat on your birthday. My husband’s birthday was last week and his birthday coupon was about to expire so we decided to go redeem it before it was too late. The closest Cold Stone Creamery to us is located on 29th Ave between Freya and Regal on the South Hill (The address is 3011 E 29th Avenue).

Millwood Farmers Market

We had drive out to Millwood on Wednesday to pick something up and as I was driving down Argonne I saw a sign for a Farmers Market. I followed the signs, turning west on Euclid, and ending up at the Millwood Presbyterian Church on 3223 N. Marguerite. We found a parking space and headed to the market. I was surprised at the number of vendors set up on a Wednesday afternoon and the large number of customers.

Pacific Avenue Pizza - Browns Addition- Spokane

e place but this time he said “you choose”. I thought for a second, since I am from Sandpoint and do not come to Spokane often, where we should go. My friend always raves about this pizza place in the Browns addition. I called her up and asked her where it was exactly. The directions were “Pacific avenue near the roundabout”. My Uncle was not familiar with the Browns addition, however I sort of knew where the roundabout was so I headed in that direction. After driving around for a few minutes looking down the cross streets I spotted the roundabout. We parked around the corner and walked into the Pacific Avenue Pizza. There was only one worker, and it was lunchtime, so service was a bit slow. A

Liberty Lake Farmers Market-Liberty Lake

We were out in the Valley this morning so we decided to keep driving and head to the Liberty Lake Farmers Market. The Liberty Lake Farmers Market is located at 1421 N. Meadow Lane Road, Liberty Square Parking Lot. It is open every Saturday May through September 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is very easy to find from I-90 and there are signs from the freeway to the Farmers Market.

I love farmers market’s in the summer as you can get fresh produce, meat, eggs and flowers from local growers at great prices. This time of year there is not an overabundance of fresh vegetables, but today there was plenty of fresh herbs, garden starts, fruit, meat, flowers, Italian food, and bread and pastry items. I also saw a lavender booth and other personal items. In a few short weeks the local famer’s markets will be bustling with fresh fruit and vegetables.

This Father’s Day we decided to take our 14’ food motor boat to Long Lake/Lake Spokane and spend the afternoon boating, picnicking and playing in the water. We headed toward Nine Mile Recreation Area which just this year became state run. It was previously called Nine Mile Resort. For specific directions, visit their website at http://www.parks.wa.gov/parkpage.asp?selectedpark=Riverside.

Clark Park, Spokane-Softball, horseshoes, toys, pinic

Summer finally decided to show up today. We were so excited to see sun today that I loaded the stroller with toddler, snacks and a ball and we walked down to Clark Park located at the northwest corner of Division and Garland. The exact address is 3922 N. Normandie.

Clark Park is a great park for walking, softball, picnicking or just playing. There are 2 softball diamonds, a great paved walking path, half a dozen or so picnic tables, horseshoe pits and lots of kids toys. There is also a small covered gazebo that would be great for birthday parties, reunions or family picnics.
