by Celanith on 06/15/08 at 7:25 pm

This fun event has take on the atomsphere of a carnival as it has grown for the past fifteen years. Parking is premium so be prepared to walk for block and take a wagon, push or pull cart or some wheeled conveyance in order to carry your found treasures at this huge community event which encompasses about 5 miles of sales in every direction. Make sure you also pack sun-screen for those hot sunny days and or if by chance the weather is cooler a light jacket. Take plenty of water and a stroller for the little ones to ride in. Make sure you download your map and plan where you plan to start and finish. www.libertylakeyardsale.org

The map will also help you locate the restrooms. Another tip is to pack a bit of extra toilet tissue for the restrooms Last of all take plenty of cash. Your sure to find something you just can’t live without.

Jen leaving one sale and going to another

My husband and I found some terrific purchases and had fun bartering with the sellers. Some things we passed by and left to others who might be interested but we found some great polo shirts that had seen little to no wear for one of my sons Father’s Day gift cost was $3.50 for 12 shirts. Another son who is a civil war buff we found a whole set of Civil War DVD’s for and only paid $5.00 for them. I found a set of 10 never opened or used clear glass pyrex bake ware for $5.00. That was a few of the buys we made and for $15 we found 3 tall bar stools made of oak for my kitchen bar counter. Ours were worn out and needed replaced.

I did forget my sun screen and got a little red but aloe vera gel took care of that and it was not so bad that I peeled. We had planned to stay most the day but we ended up leaving around 1:00 p.m because my oldest son had called us at breakfast to attend his children’s Annual Father’s Day Dance Recital which I will tell you about in the next article.

Lots of sales and great buys

I know we plan to go back next year and I am going to start putting $2 aside each month for next years sale. Lets see that will be about $240 I can spend next year. This year we did well and spent only $69 and came away with a lot of loot.
