This past weekend we wanted to get together with some friends and play a pickup game of softball. However, I really wanted to go somewhere that had more to do than just softball. Therefore, we decided to head to Linwood Park on Country Holmes Blvd. (1100 W. Eastmont). Linwood Park is located off of Country Holmes Blvd. north of Francis and South of Wall Street.

We decided to make an afternoon of it, so I baked some cupcakes, packed some food, grabbed some toys and away we went. When we arrived at Linwood Park the parking lot was full, so we ended up parking on Eastmont. The park was full of activity on this Sunday afternoon. There was a large group holding a birthday party in the covered eating area, another 2 teams playing softball and dozens of children playing on the toys.

We found a spot over by the softball field and staked our place in line for the next game. While waiting for the game to start my husband took our son over to the toys to go down the slide a few times. Linwood’s toy structure is definitely geared for older kids, but with some parental assistance, toddlers can have fun too.

After the toys got a little to crowded for my comfort, I took our son over to the basketball court to run off some energy. All was good until he discovered he could sneak out of the basketball court between the fence line and of course I could not fit! He had fun trying to out run me, but at least he was having fun. There was also a tennis court which boasted 2 courts and acres of open grass that provided a lot of opportunity to run.

While at the park I noticed a group of boys playing hackie sack, another group of kids playing soccer and adults just enjoying the cooler summer afternoon.

After a few hours at the park we headed home, but it was a great place to spend the afternoon and let everyone, parents included burn off some energy.
