So this Halloween, I decided to take my new found bravery to Greenwood Cemetery to visit the infamous 1,000 steps. The stairs were absolutely beautiful. The cemetery is located just past Spokane Falls Community College on 211 N. Government Way. Once you get there I recommend parking at the Riverside Mausoleum. From here, walk about fifteen feet past the Mausoleum and on the right the entrance to the stairs is outside the cemetery fence.

Kizuri in Spokane sells Fair Trade at Reasonable Prices
The phrases “fair trade” and “earth friendly” seem to be thrown around by businesses a lot more lately, especially now that they are considered “in.” But one business that’s been dealing 100% with fair trade and selling earth friendly products form the beginning is Spokane’s own Kizuri, located at 35 W. Main.
Trick or Trunk in Spokane
Tonight my MOMS’s Club held our annual Trick or Trunk tonight. Before last year I had never heard of something but I am now hooked. Trick or Trunk is very much like it sounds. You trick or treat from car trunk to car trunk. It is a great activity for any Church group, scout troop, [...]
Learn to relax with Main Street Yoga
I love to exercise. It makes me feel better and best of all, lets out my aggression. But lately, I’ve found that doing the same routine day in and out, can become monotonous. When this happens, exercise becomes more like a job than a hobby, and I find myself calling in sick to the gym. [...]
Spokane’s Creative Community Branch Together at The Artist’s Tree
I’ve always been enticed by curiosity when walking past The Artist’s Tree, an art gallery across from the Davenport Hotel on 828 W. Sprague in downtown Spokane. The displays shown in the windows facing outside are always set up with some of the most interesting works of art. Walking by it once again‚Äîrunning errands over [...]
Halloween Dodgeball
This is the 3rd or 4th year my husband has played in the Halloween Dodgeball Tournament through the Spokane County Parks & Rec Dept. He has also played in their Turkey Bowl (Thanksgiving Dodgeball) and St. Patrick’s Day Dodgeball tournament. The games are held in different middle school gyms throughout Spokane County. This year we [...]
Attracting Comic Book Lover’s, Merlyn’s in Spokane
My younger brother’s 18th birthday is coming up in the following month. His two favorite things are lifting weights and reading comic books. A strange combination, I know. But then again, no one’s ever really classified him as “normal.” He already has a gym pass to Gold’s, so I opted for something in the [...]
Spokane’s Tinman Gallery Provides Pleasant Escape
Tinman Gallery, an art gallery and independent book store on 811 W. Garland. Art and reading are two of my favorite things, so this is simply a natural choice on my part. The main gallery hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mon.-Sat. But on opening receptions, which are generally the first Friday of every month, the gallery is open until 9:00 p.m. (the reception is 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.)
French Toast followed by Spokane’s only Improv Theatre
Saturday night show at the Blue Door Theatre. You can register from their web site via e-mail, and they’ll send you an e-mail reply letting you know whether or not those seats are available. I got the e-mail reply, so we were in. The Saturday night show was at 9:00 p.m. On Friday nights their shows are at 8:00 p.m. instead, and are classified as their “family-friendly” version. The Saturday night show is considered to be rated “PG-13” and not as suitable for younger children. My younger sister is 16, so I figured we were in good shape. And as we attended the show, even with the adult content, the humor was still pretty tasteful and there wasn’t any swearing or profanity that I heard.
Spokane’s Haunted House Offers Frightening Chills
Immediately they warned that children under the age of thirteen probably shouldn’t go through it. That was not at all what I expected it to be fashioned for. We paid for out tickets, which were $8 for adults and $6 for students, and headed on in. The set-off comes off to a great start, as we walked by a large pit with roaming zombies. One of the zombies spotted us… and on his signal they all start to try to scramble up the steep rock wall that separated us. Actors in gruesome costumes stalked us and popped out of the darkness to make frightening noises, and cobwebs full of spiders dangles from the ceiling. Long, uncomfortable corridors twisted and turned so we didn’t know what would be around the next corner. Flashing strobe lights added to the delightful uneasiness.
