Phantom of the Opera Comes to Spokane

The place was filled. We had good orchestra seats, of which I was most thankful for. The cast preformed magnificently. I could feel my heart pounding loudly within my chest at the riveting sound of their voices and the moving sensations of the musicians below the stage. I’ve been a fan of the Phantom of the Opera for a long time now. The original Broadway cast recording is a permanent on my MP3 player—but it does not even compare to the experience of hearing it live. Harold Prince does an outstanding job of directing this show, of which is now the longest running show on Broadway. The lead roles of the Phantom and Christine were played by Ramin Karimloo and Gina Beck—both of which offered moving performances. The entire cast, in fact, I found very effective.

Apple Picking At Huckaba’s on Greenbluff

This past Monday we wanted to head up to Greenbluff to pick apples. However, before we realized it the day was almost gone. However, my son was walking around saying “pick apples with daddy” so up to Greenbluff we headed. As we arrived after 5:00, I was a little worried we would not find a place to pick, but after driving around we arrived at Huckaba’s, 8022 E. Greenbluff, honked the horn as the sign said and before we knew someone came out and said they were open until 6:30.

Gymnastics at the YMCA

Last week we started our two year old son at gymnastics at the downtown YMCA. We thought it would be a great way to enhance his coordination and burn off some energy. The downtown YMCA is located at 507 N. Howard and the Valley YMCA is located at 2421 N. Discovery Place. All classes are open to both members and non-members. I talked a few friends into taking the class with us, so the four of us head weekly to the YMCA after nap.

If you are military or a senior admission is only $4.

Fall Foliage Train Tour in Beautiful Ione

Fall is my favorite time of year, so when I heard that the North Pond Oreille Valley Lions Club offered a Fall Foliage train tour in September and October, I informed my family that we were going to go. I had never been on a train and I love looking at the different colored leaves [...]
