Explore Antique Shops on Monroe Street

I love exploring antique stores. Each one is completely different and has an entirely new selection of content to browse through. So when I drove past what I noticed to be yet another antique store I hadn’t explored yet, I had to stop in. This antique store is easy to miss because they haven’t had [...]

Downtown Spokane Houses Many Incredible Sculptures from Local Artists

Taking a small stroll down Riverside St. and Main St. in downtown Spokane, I realized just how blessed this city is with sculpture artists. In just a short distance, there are so many incredible works that are both fascinating and inspiring. The sculptures range from being half the size of an average person, to as [...]

In Awe of Our Winter Wonderland

Spokane is now a city of constant national news coverage. The severe weather conditions we have been dealing with have broken records made as far back as we started recording records. The amount of snow we have accumulated in such a short period of time has been very difficult to deal with, and rarely have [...]

Beyond Bead Really Does Go BEYOND

I discovered Beyond Beads. Beyond Beads (north) definitely goes BEYOND just selling beads. In addition to thousands upon thousands of beads sold in a wide variety, they also sell gift items, such as clothing and soaps, as well as showing a gallery of pieces that have been created by other beading artists. This is a shop that I have enjoyed visiting just to look though everything they have and view all of the items in the display cases without ever having to buy anything. But if I do need to make a purchase, they have everything I need from beads to findings right there. Beyond Beads North is located at 7452 N. Division St. They also have a location in the valley located at 12021 E. Sprague Ave., if you live closer to that area instead.

Discovering Sophisticated Arts and Crafts at Artisan Wares

A common misconception is that the coined term “arts and crafts” refers to gift items of a lesser quality because they are handmade. Artisan Wares is a gallery that is sure to prove any thinking along those lines as false. The immediate sense I felt upon entering the place was their sophisticated ambiance. There are hundred of items on display, but they are displayed in an orderly, correct manner.

Sweeny Todd Performs at the Fox

I love the Sweeny Todd Musical. I listen to the Broadway soundtrack daily. I saw the Tim Burton movie twice in theaters and bought the DVD as soon as it was released. I went to the Civic Theater production in the beginning of November, but as good as that was, I still had not had enough of the musical thriller. When I found out that the touring Broadway show was coming to the Martin Woldson Fox Theatre in downtown Spokane, I jumped at the opportunity and bought 4 tickets at $38 a piece.

Spokane Twinkles As Houses Are Covered With Lights

The city of Spokane loves a reason to decorate. And no reason, or excuse, seems to hold up better than the Christmas holiday season. The other day I ventured down through the south hill, even though it’s the opposite direction from my way home after I get off of work. I just had to see how all of the different homes in that area were doing. And then on my way back home I took a longer route through Country Homes Boulevard, and then back down Wall St. A lot of the houses I was able to look at have gone all out. And what surprised me even more is that even apartment renters are starting to light up their yards! It would appear as though a tough economy and a late Thanksgiving holiday haven’t slowed anyone down as far as decorating goes.

Stroll through Browns Addition’s Historic Mansions

Throughout the summer, I read an intriguing advertisement. The advertisement offered a walking tour of “the historic Brown’s Addition” for $15. Now as exciting as this sounded to me, I wasn’t about to pay $15 dollars for someone to take me on a walk. So instead of paying for the guided tour, my boyfriend and I took our own.

Enter into Another World at Main Street Antiques

Main Street Antique (7 West Main Street in Spokane) Main Street Antiques is not your typical Antique store. It goes far beyond selling old dolls and furniture from the 1950s of America. It reaches out to all over the world, presenting items originating from as far as the other side of the globe. I was amazed by the variety of artifacts from Japan, China, Africa, and Europe. It was a complete turn-a-round from the usual antique shop I was expecting.
