Family Fun at Spokane County Interstate Fair

Spokane County Interstate FairToday was Family Free Day at the Spokane Interstate Fair sponsored by KSPS and The Spokesman Review. My girlfriends and I decided it would be the perfect day, weather included, to take the kids to the Fair after the nap time. However, I did not anticipate that everyone in Spokane would also have the same idea. Read the rest of Family Fun at Spokane County Interstate Fair »

Farm Fun at Carver Farms-Newman Lake

Carver Farms I always know fall is coming quickly when corn is ready to pick. And for our family, no place is better to pick corn than Carver Farms (9105 N. Idaho Road, Newman Lake, WA). A couple of weeks ago on our way home from Idaho, we came home through Rathdrum on Trent and made a quick stop at Carver Farms for some fresh corn. Dancing the Night Away for Seniors-Inland Northwest

My birthday at the dance August 11th, 2008

My husband AJ and I are officially Senior Citizens. On August 11th I turned 59. I love to dance and we had not been dancing for a very long time. I wanted to go dancing so did an Internet search and found several of the Senior Citizen centers in Spokane, Post Falls and Couer d’ Alene have a dance sometime during the week. One dance was on my birthday Monday night August 11th at the Corbin Senior Center located in Northwest Spokane at 827 W. Cleveland Ave. Read the rest of Dancing the Night Away for Seniors-Inland Northwest »

12th Annual Buggy Barn Quilt Show and Folk Art Sale-Reardan

Buggy BarnI have been wanting to attend the Annual Buggy Barn Quilt Show at the Buggy Barn in Reardan Washington for the past few years. However, we are usually out of town. This year to my surprise we were in town and I definitely made sure we scheduled time to drive to Reardan to the Buggy Barn.

I love shopping at the Buggy Barn Quilt Shop. You literally are shopping in an old carriage house on a farm. You walk in the shop and you get an overwhelming feeling to quilt. They have dozens of quilt hanging on the walls to inspire you. They also have hundreds of bolts of fabrics from some of the best lines around. Almost every quilt that is hanging is also available in a kit, which usually includes the fabric and pattern. Read the rest of 12th Annual Buggy Barn Quilt Show and Folk Art Sale-Reardan »

Fairchild’s Blue Angels Skyshow

Sunday August 10th, our family attended the Fairchild Air show at Fairchild Air Force Base in Airway Heights. We went to watch the various planes perform wonderful feats and observe the power of the big jets. It was the day before my birthday and our youngest son thought it would be a great family outing. The day started out a bit cloudy and threatening rain and we did get a few sprinkles but nothing serious.

When we arrived we had no clue how to find the rest of our family the crowds were already large and getting larger. We all had cell phones but with the noise of jet engines, people talking and the announcer it was difficult hearing a phone conversation. No matter we did not get anyone on the phone anyway. Peach Picking on Greenbluff

Peach Picking GreenbluffI can smell the peaches as we drive around Greenbluff this past weekend. Nothing is better, to me than fresh peaches. They are so versatile. You can eat them plain, over ice cream, in a cobbler, make syrup to use over pancakes or in a margarita.

We got up early to go pick peaches so we could beat the heat and headed to Walter’s Fruit Ranch. Walter’s has so much to do that it is a perfect place to take a 2 year old. While we waited for the Fruit Loop Express to take us to the peach trees, my son was able to feed the chickens, look at a rabbit and visit the goats. They also have a new play structure so he was able to burn up so me energy on the slide. Read the rest of Peach Picking on Greenbluff »

A Day of Fun at Riverfront Park’s 30th Birthday Celebration in Downtown Spokane

Riverfront Park Birthday AdA few weeks ago, Riverfront Park celebrated their 30th anniversary by offering 1978 pricing on many of their attractions. I always enjoy going to Riverfront Park, so when I found out that I had family coming into town that weekend, we jumped on the opportunity to have some fun while paying less.

It was on a Saturday and we arrived at about 11:00am. We started by walking around and seeing what we wanted to do. We passed by the fountain at the front of the park and watched the kids playing around in the water. We then passed by the carousel that only cost $.50 to ride that day. Beat the Heat at Chuck E Cheese-Spokane

Chuck E Cheese SpokaneThis afternoon we decided to beat the heat with some friends and head to Chuck E Cheese’s at 10007 N. Nevada in north Spokane. I had not been to Chuck E Cheese’s since my Jr. year in High School and I was not sure I was ready to brave it with a 2 year old. However, I was very surprised about how much fun we had.

We went to Chuck E. Cheese with just the intention of playing and not eating. We stuck to that too. The pizza and salad bar looked very tasty, but we spent our money on the games for the kids. Each game at Chuck E Cheese costs 1 token or $0.25. I did not think that was too bad. As you arrive at Chuck E Cheese you and your children receive a hand stamp. I did not understand the purpose of this until we left. They check your stamps and make sure you and your child have the same number. I was comforted by this security measure. They also have baby gates at the front door so your children cannot leave without you. Read the rest of Beat the Heat at Chuck E Cheese-Spokane »
